Egypt has the potential to become a regional power, as does Persia. The Ottomans and their neighbours are one big mess - the Ottomans often find themselves beset on all sides, and always face at least one existential challenge in the course of the game. Of these, Argentina and Chile are the bigger countries, although Patagonia can replace Argentina if it can defeat it on the battlefield. South America is a confused scrum, with Argentina on one side and Chile, Patagonia and Paraguay on the other. Aside from the countries listed above, there are a number of more regional conflicts that look fun.
